The Ninth Annual KohOscars (Best of 2023)

Our membership came together once again to select the very best in film, who were apart of nominating these films. A huge thank you to these members: Madie Bahl, Caleb Boatman, Michael Campbell, Zack Ford, Scott Harvey, Payson Johnson, Kirk Kowalkowski, Jake Meltzer, Paul Oyama, Lucas Schildbach & Adelaide Spence. This year we added one new category: Best Documentary. Films that were released at any point in the calendar year of 2023 were deemed eligible. Oppenheimer led the way in nominations with sixteen, but set the record for most wins with ten, a record previously held by La La Land. Killers of the Flower Moon became the first film to have a nominated performance in all four major acting categories. Lily Gladstone and Cara Jade Myers became the first Native American performers in Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress. The Boy and the Heron became the first anime film to be nominated for Best Picture.
